I got an upgrade to a full size for free when I was out there 2 weeks ago. Didn't even ask, guy just gave it to me. There are no supervisors around, so just print your contract at the kiosk and when you go into the garage, slip him a $20 and ask for an upgrade.
6. Re: Trying to figure out what to rent for 5, lots of luggage! 13 years ago. The problem with renting Full size cars is that you have very little control over the actual model you get. There might be more choice at a larger depot, but a smaller location won't have as many cars onsite.

I've been looking for a car rental place in IAD (Washington Dulles) in July. kAlmost every single site has min-priced cars @ about $33 a day, but for some reason, Kayak.com has some cars at $15 a day.
Have rented full size from Alamo several times. Chevy Impala and Toyota Camry in 2011. Had a Dodge Charger both times last year. Was offered a choice of small SUVs since the full size row was sparse, but ended up with the Dodge Charger. If you haven't already, sign up as an Alamo Insider, and you can bypass the counter and use the kiosk.

I've been searching for a good deal on a full size rental car and the best I've found is an all-in price for 4 days of $220.00 (full-size) I believe it was at dollar. It seems that its been quite a bit cheaper in the past. My dates are July 17-21.
