Seems like whenever they get a good review, the person is accused of being an employee. Not the case. I book my own travel and only have gotten AAA discounts in the USA at large chain hotels. When I go to Europe I use smaller local hotels or B&Bs to get more of the local flavor.
Insurance companies are not responsible for making alternative travel arrangements for you when things go wrong. That is what your tour operator should do, and appears to have done. The insurance company will only pay out after the event, and when you have had a response from all the other companies involved.
My travel companion had AAA travel insurance. His AAA insurance paid the price difference between the flights. GoReady did not stating the flight eventually left on time and I suppose they thought I should ignore the advice of the airline. I would avoid this insurance company at all costs.
