1. Re: Mid to late September visit. 3 years ago. Bozeman doesn't make a great base for touring the national parks, it adds hours of driving each day. No way to know about weather, it could be nice, or it could start to be wintry in the west. Temporary road closures in Yellowstone started Sept. 20 in 2019.
Answer 1 of 11: My husband & I are flying into Bozeman, Mt Sept 15th & ending up in Banf on the 20th. What are the main things we should do & see. We are also trying to decide if we want to rent a camper or just find hotels.
Saturday to Glacier/Going-to-the-Sun, back to Bozeman Sunday afternoon for Monday morning flight home. My question: Should we find someplace between W Yellowstone and Missoula for Wednesday night, or just head up to enjoy an extra day around Missoula?
One suggestion, using my minimum recommendations. If you can add more time, you will have much more flexibility for weather, etc. If you want to hike, add days. This is just for seeing the main sights. 1. Fly in to Bozeman. Overnight Bozeman if a later flight, overnight Gardiner or Mammoth if you can get there before dark.
6. Re: Mount Rainier in late September. 3 years ago. We have family in the West Coast and love to travel there. MRNP is always our favorite park with beautiful views of the snowy mountain everywhere! We have just returned from MRNP, NCNP - loved the water color of the Diablo lake and OLNP at Hurricane Ridge.
September. 2. Re: Warmer months. It is a toss up as to which is warmer, they are on opposite ends of summer, so the temperatures are similar, but in an opposite order. Early June can be cool, but late June is hitting July type temperatures. Early September will still be August like temperatures, but late September will start cooling off.
The lower elevations of the park should be nice from May through September, but for the full park experience you want to be able to get into the higher elevations as well. For the best mix of weather and crowds, I would recommend very late June or very early July. Report inappropriate content. docbigsky.
