Re: FDA approved drugs. You must have a prescription to purchase Cipro in Mexico. If Flagyl is an antibiotic or narcotic you will also need a prescription for that. Lots of good home remedies or over the counter meds to help. But unless prescribed by a doctor using any antibiotics is a bad idea. If your discomfort is do great you can go visit a doctor at Farmacia Similares ($60 pesos to see a doctor) or Farmacia del Ahorro (free to see a doctor) and let them decide if antibiotics are the way to go.
this isn't the answer you're looking for but please consider first - you should really not medicate based on what you "think" they may have. besides, you can get any antibiotic you want in cancun without a prescription. if you have to do it, at least wait until you get there and visit any "Playa Mart" where the meds are readily available. most stomach illnesses seem to come from fruity drinks ...
