10. Re: My review of TURO (the "airbnb' car rental company) Fortunately my experience with turo was excellent, but the car owner I was renting from has 4.999 stars, is one of the premiere owner/renters in the San Francisco/San Jose area and he has 10-12 high-end cars that he rents out via Turo.
The companies with lower rates (Auto Europe, Kemwel) have nothing but 1 star reviews. We'd really prefer to do the one-way, but definitely don't want to pinch pennies and end up with a horrible rental experience (it's worth the extra 5 hrs of driving to return to Nice!) The best rates I'm seeing now for one-way (3 day rental) are around $900.

Comparing prices between AutoEurope (for an Avis car) and Avis (making a direct booking) I get (for a 5 day rental, one way from Verona to Venice ): AutoEurope: $343 w/deductible or $510 without; estimated $15 one-way fee to be charged at pick-up. Avis: $371 w/deductible (it states the one-way fee is included in that price)
