I booked a flight on Swiss Airlines (SFO - ZRH) through the United Airlines site simply because it was a direct flight and also the cheapest at the time.

    Go to your reservation on Lufthansa, and see if you can find the six alphanumeric character "record locator" that works on the United website. If you can;t find it, call Lufthansa and ask for the "record locator" or "PNR" that will access the reservation with United.
