   5. Re: Uber vs Renting a car. Jun 6, 2024, 7:19 PM. Hertz or Budget/Avis have weekend rates under $50 a day (less with AAA) and you'd be able to get around and see a lot more for basically the price of a couple daily Uber rides. So it depends on the parking charge at your hotel I guess.

Hello, We are a family of 6 coming to Maui in July. 2 of our family members already rented a car through rental cars .com so that leaves my husband, myself and 2 kids left to get our own rental car. Ubers at Newark airport pick up at the terminals (baggage claim/passenger pickup level) – so from Avis – just jump on the free monorail to any of the terminals (A comes first – but depending on time of day – B might be less crowded).

This allowed us to drive around the island and see the windward side and north shore, as well as see Tantalus Drive and go out to eat on those days.
