Fairbanks can be like the tropics of Alaska. My Fbks. childhood memories are of waking up in the early morning, to the living room flooded with hot sunlight! Anchorage takes awhile, for the day’s heat to get warmer, typically, in comparison. I love the hot afternoons in Anchorage tho, when we get the sun.

I will be staying for 4 to 5 days and I have never driven on snow. I'd like to know what the feeling's like for driving on snowy roads?
3. Re: Fairbanks in November. 6 years ago. That's a good link for potential temperatures you could encounter. At least it's a dry cold with typically no wind. Any snow that falls is real dry and powdery and squeaks like Styrofoam underfoot. There will be lots of dark hours for watching the aurora when they put on a show.
