Here's my advice: rent from a national company that you've heard of. I use Avis every time I travel and they are always courteous and prompt, the cars are almost brand new, I've never had mechanical trouble, I've had to extend my rental with no notice and have never had a problem, you get CD players in all cars (some companies just have radios).
When Deluxe Rent a Car at LAX offered a fully equipted car in new condition for 1/2 the price of anyone else, you may doubt if it's real. IT'S REAL. I'm picking up a car Sunday for $292 for 28 days ($73 a week with tax) using a 15% off coupon. The same class of car was $800-$900 on Hotwire
Answer 1 of 2: Deluxe Rent A Car at LAX does have cheap rates, no question; but they are not an ethical operation. They lied to me at least twice -- and they apparently lied to the customer in line in front of me as well.
2. Re: Which Rental Car Companies Are Easiest at Airport. All car rental facilities at LAX are off-site, and you will need to take a shuttle from the terminal to get to one. I would stick with the major firms - Avis, Budget, Enterprise, Hertz, National, Thrifty.
