I want to take an extra couple of pairs of contact lenses while we're there. I have 30 day lenses, so I *shouldn't* need the extras, I just want them just in case. (I have back up glasses but HATE wearing them lol.) I don't want to open the new lenses until I have to, so transferring them to a screw on contact case isn't an option for me.
I have a 12+ hour flight and am wondering about whether it will be safe to put contact lenses on or take them out on a plane. I always carry a spare lens case (with a small amount of fluid) in my eyeglass case which is normally in my personal item (a small backpack). TSA has never given it a second look. I also carry a larger container of rinse and that goes in the 3-1-1 bag. -JimG.
I still wear hard contact lenses and as has been said always take a spare pair in my hand baggage. I put a 120mL bottle of wetting and soaking solution in my checked bag. For in flight use I usually carry a 30mL bottle of inexpensive artificial tears or eyedrops for rewetting purposes. Whilst not ideal it works in the short term.

My contact lenses are quite good at remaining hydrated even if I neglect to use rewetting drops. However, for long flights of 10.5 hours or so I use the drops but leave in the contacts. Since you already notice your having problems in air conditioned buildings then you should get the rewetting drops or don't wear them at all, use your eyeglasses.
