Most of the independents in West Glacier, St Mary and all the other bedroom communities normally take reservations most any time. This is the main Reason for the perennial & apparently-booked-up problem: "**Don't panic though if they show booked already.

   1. Re: Car rental.. Whatever car you are comfortable in and fits your budget. If there should be snow during your visit, in Glacier the road would be closed till clear. Even with SUV most rental companies don’t allow driving on unmaintained roads. A SUV may allow for better visibility and sight seeing from the vehicle.
