I ended up booking direct with Alamo car rental. I like Alamo because as a member of their free Insiders club I got a small discount (maybe 5%) off the price, but more importantly I can check in online and avoid the airport check in desk by simply going to the lot and picking out my car. So for me I don't see a great advantage to Priceline anymore.

I booked 3 days car rental through Priceline. Priceline charge me$261 ($86 for each day)for only reservation a car, not for car rental! Never heard a third party can charge you reservation fee. They call it prepayment for car rental at booking time which misleading you. Pretty high profit! Reply.
I agree. Priceline claims they notified me not a recent booking that charges were ‘estimated’ but nothing in any information about the booking included these statements and I looked thoroughly.
