applicable to AMEX AVIS certificate holders. Also, if you follow the instructions and go thru AMEXMR, the published rates are 10-15% higher than those obtained thru the AVIS website. Thus on a $1,000 rental thru AVIS. the same rental thru AVISMR is $1,100. In effect a $100 certificate is worthless.
24 helpful votes. 1. Re: Avis - BEWARE - Unwarranted $250 cleaning charge! 3 years ago. Save. I feel that important details are being left out of this scenario. Read the contract. If the inside is dirty, they can charge $250.00. Ten minutes of vacuuming seems like there was more than a little dirt.
I've used Avis in the past- small satellite office and great vehicle and customer service. Used Enterprise MANY times and was my top pick- also a smallish satellite office- and the last 2 rentals have been from Budget. Great experience once, 2nd time, not so much BUT it was dealing with the big airport office at night.
