    Google maps say the two routes are within 15 minutes of each other. I-10 is all interstate until you cross the river and get past Quartzsite and get on hwy 60. The desert is pretty green right when you get on 60 then you climb up the hill to Yarnell and into the forested part of the drive.

    Google Maps shows 6 1/2 hour drive time, but I have found their times are overly optimistic, so 7 hours is probably more realistic, which becomes 8 hours with the time change entering Utah. As Connie B says, that does not include stops. Most direct route from Prescott is 69 to 169 to Interstate 17.
