But, we went to the counter just outside baggage check. There was no wait and they acknowledged my reservation. Then took us and our luggage to the transport to the car location. Then we reviewed my reservation and gave a free upgrade, I added the required liability insurance. Go in the car and left. All within 30 minutes of picking up our luggage.

If insurance was included in your booking, then it should have been reflected on the booking - you should have had something to show that insurance was included.
The most valuable thing that Hertz have is surely their good name and the protection of their brand. Yes I could have argued more with the Agent and not accepted him at his word, but I thought that I was dealing with Hertz and needed the car, As a Gold Member I expected Hertz would support me. No more Hertz for me and certainly no more AVASA.

Six of us in a family group travelled from Australia. We travelled in the shuttle from LAX to the site to collect the car.
Credit card charged $1500.00!!! $1000.00 of taxes, false upgrade, and random services. We declined all, charged for all to the enormous sum of $1500.00!!! It is a total scam. I closed the deal on the internet for $750. The rental agent charged me $1,250 for a subpar car. Uploaded a photo to prove it. Hertz cheated me! I will never rent a car from Hertz again. Additionally, the so-called Gold Membership only seems to result in paying more. I felt deceived and harmed.
16. Re: Beware Hertz car rental scam. The car rental agent will be unable to pull off a "new" reservation if you have a printed copy of the original reservation - which you should have had. I always print every page of my reservation and have it with me when I pick up the car just in case there is a problem.
Hertz car rental. SCAM ALERT! 4 years ago. SCAM ALERT! Do not do business with Herzt San Jose Del Cabo establishment. I booked on-line for a no frills small impact car for my son and I. I waited in line for over 20 minutes while three sales representatives dealt with angry customers. I should have taken that as a cue and left but I felt stuck.
