   Discount Hawaii Car Rental is the most respected, most recommended on these boards, along with Costco. DHCR is who my parents used to use, when they were still driving. I'd still choose from Avis, Alamo or Enterprise though and not Payless, maybe not Budget.

   Alamo/Costco didn't come close to Dollar's DHCR prices for our 2018 trip. With some reluctance, we made the switch to Dollar. There were no problems with Dollar's quick car pick-up or drop off. For 2019, we've reserved Dollar through DHCR -- with frequent searches for lower rates at Costco & Autoslash.

Whenever I go on a trip, I start watching the deal websites for my destination and buying restaurant and activity deals. Groupon and LivingSocial have daily deals for Honolulu but not Maui.
