The airline's plug will either be two-pinned or standard AUX. You can buy a lightning to AUX adapter, and then get a AUX to two-pin adapter.

   In those cases where the outlet is designed with 3, I've found I can use the single bottom prong (3.5mm) with my own headphones and it works well enough. As for size, the adaptor I have is a 2mm to 3.5mm adapter and the 2mm plugs into my headphones and the 3.5mm plugs into the seat plug-in. See below.

   The one possible exception would be the very old tube connector headphones. The actual speakers were built into the seat's armrest, and one connected a "dual tube" headphone to those. Have not seen those in about 10 years though. Good luck, Hunt
