I reserved and prepaid for a Dollar car rental through Priceline in early Sep. 2021, for pick-up a couple of days later at EWR. When I got to the rental counter after an hour standing in line, the agent could not find any reservation for me.

Yes, I have. And when you bid, Priceline only uses the top 5-6 rental companies; they do not use all that are listed on their site for your "bidding". I have tried all the sites suggested and always end up booking with the rental company directly. I just booked 11 days with thrifty for $ 313.00 total ( including the crazy fees ) for a wild car.
