It was launched in 1996 as the first commercial web mapping service. [1] MapQuest vies for market share with competitors such as Apple Maps, Here and Google Maps.
As far as I can tell, Waze, Google, Mapquest, and many others have eliminated the ability to map driving directions using the shortest driving miles rather than driving time. Since, I never drive fast and hate patronizing interstates as much as root canal surgery, is there any free way to determine the shortest driving miles for a roadtrip?
47 helpful votes. 1. Re: Map quest or Google maps. 7 years ago. I prefer Google Maps. The times will differ for Google because it is in real time. Therefore the drive time will vary based on time of day (i.e. commute traffic vs. off hours), any accidents, etc. We live close to Silicon Valley and no one uses MapQuest here anymore.
Re: Best Driving Route Cincinnati to Myrtle Beach. If taking I-75 south, I would take this route. Take I-75 South to exit 29 in Kentucky (Corbin/Barbourville exit). This exit will save you about 30 miles compared to staying on I-75 to Knoxville. At exit 29 take a left onto HWY 25E.

9 years ago. I am mapping out a massive USA Road Trip and had my route drive times on the website: roadtrippers.com. A couple times seems 'long' to me so I went to google maps & all times were significantly shorter (yippee!). Went to mapquest.com & times were similar to Google Maps BU each leg of trip was 15-30 minutes longer on mapquest.
