As far as I can tell, Waze, Google, Mapquest, and many others have eliminated the ability to map driving directions using the shortest driving miles rather than driving time. Since, I never drive fast and hate patronizing interstates as much as root canal surgery, is there any free way to determine the shortest driving miles for a roadtrip?
We will be driving in August from the Frankfurt Airport to Rothenburg ob de Tauber thence to Munich thence to Hohenschwangau, thence to Mayrhofen in Austria, on to Salzburg and finally returning the car in Vienna. 9 years ago. I am mapping out a massive USA Road Trip and had my route drive times on the website: roadtrippers.com. A couple times seems 'long' to me so I went to google maps & all times were significantly shorter (yippee!). Went to mapquest.com & times were similar to Google Maps BU each leg of trip was 15-30 minutes longer on mapquest.

The fastest and most direct route is to take 95S, 295, then 64E. When there is little to no traffic (you'd have to leave Washington between 10am and 12 noon - weekeday - for the best window) you should be able to make it to Williamsburg in 2 or 2.5 hours.
