As far as I can tell, Waze, Google, Mapquest, and many others have eliminated the ability to map driving directions using the shortest driving miles rather than driving time. Since, I never drive fast and hate patronizing interstates as much as root canal surgery, is there any free way to determine the shortest driving miles for a roadtrip?

No saved places were visible. 2) Deleted Mapquest app, reinstalled it, and logged in to same account. Still, no saved places were visible.
Journey planner. A journey planner, trip planner, or route planner is a specialized search engine used to find an optimal means of travelling between two or more given locations, sometimes using more than one transport mode. [1] [2] Searches may be optimized on different criteria, for example fastest, shortest, fewest changes, cheapest. [3]
Our usual route is the 80/90 one that comes up by default in Mapquest. We are a family of four with two kids who will be 9 and 11 at the time of travel, and this will be a summer road trip so no weather concerns to speak of (or at least not the kind we're used to here in Syracuse). We can do this route east to west or west to east, if that matters.
