American cell phone use in Ireland. 4 years ago. Just finished a 2 week trip to Ireland (August 2019) and want to share my cell phone experience. I know there are options, but I chose to use my American cell phone (Verizon) in Ireland and pay the $10 a day. It worked flawlessly, and I used GPS constantly to navigate.

5. Re: Lebara Phone. 16 years ago. The Netherlands SIM will work as that is the service the phone is locked to. If it couldn't find a service then the phone may not have the Canadian frequencies. Of course the NL SIM will work in Ireland, if it still has credit, but an Irish one would be cheaper.
