Jul 2024. Texas city dike is still closed after Beryl. According to local officials, it will be closed for several weeks. Save some time, you wont be allow on the dike. I would think as many people that visit the dike during the summer it would give the city incentive to get the dike open as soon as possible to increase the city's revenue.
The Texas City Dike is a popular fishing area for locals and visitors from near and far. It is a great spot for picnics, beach time, water sports (such as windsurfing, kayaking and parasailing), a peaceful lunch on your lunch hour or a tranquil 5 mile ride to end of the Dike.
Fish on the east side. Swim, water-sports kiting & boarding, boating and wading for bate on the west side. From Texas City Dike (jutting 5 miles into the Trinity/Galveston bays) you can see all the Galveston causeway, the island, and the Highway 87 ferry landing on the Bolivar Peninsula, with its famous lighthouse.

Nothing exciting, but the dike juts out into Galveston Bay for a full mile, and offers great views of the Houston Ship Channel traffic and Galveston and Texas City from a seaward view. Beaches on both sides of the dike and plenty of places to fish.

Both sides of the dike are great for fishing. One side has nice beaches for fishing, families, and swimming, and the other side is great for fishing. Black and red drum, sea trout, catfish, small sharks, etc. Several boat launches as well. $5 charge to enter on weekends if you’re a non-resident. Date of experience: March 2020.

Reviewed February 9, 2018 via mobile. There are several boat ramp that you can use to launch your boat. The very last one at the end is convenient. 3 boat ramps.
