Lebara was founded in 2001 by UK-based Ratheesan Yoganathan, Rasiah Ranjith Leon and Baskaran Kandiah. The name Lebara was coined from the first two letters of each of the founders' names. As noted, the international calls have to be to a landline. This is for calls to my 94 year young mum in Florida who does not have a cell phone nor computer. When doing research, some providers noted that international calls had to be to a cell, not a landline. I believe Lebara permits international calls to a landline.

If I call France from the USA on my T Mobile phone, the charge is $2 per minute. If I call the USA from France on my Free.fr phone, the call is free.
