Trick you into paying more. Don’t use Hertz. Having booked and paid for a car with Europe cars via Hertz, to travel the UK, 7 months prior, we were given no choice on pick up, but to up grade, as “apparently” no other cars had a GPS. As far as I know, Hertz does not charge for emergency roadside assistance. The phone number to call for that is printed right on the outside of the envelope that they hand the renter at pick up, which contains your contract. The general customer service phone number is printed there as well, which you would use if you wanted to extend your rental.
On a different note, I rented a Hertz for 3 weeks, had an issue and tried numerous ways to contact Hertz. Emails, Facebook, direct to rental/return locations, even phone (apart from the emergency number). Now a month later and STILL waiting to hear from Hertz.
