When I got to the rental counter after an hour standing in line, the agent could not find any reservation for me.

I rented a car online and the site said $26/day, but they charged me $49.94/day and would discount me or anything when I called back since I didn't select their insurance.

However time pressures sometimes means it’s easier to see the sort of prices on offer on an aggregator site rather than traveling through each supplier individually. I’ve learned a lesson though.    I called Priceline and they admitted that the prepayment $261 is only for reservations fee not for car rental. The thrifty car rental said the prepayment not go to their pocket.    Mindy, I've got a full size rental car booked with Alamo for Nascar Week, dates March 2- 8. The rates go up and down as You know, but I am now paying $140.82 (out the door).
