The "reviews" on the Hotwire site are from HW customers that have stayed at that particular property. It has nothing to do with Trip Advisor. When they say there are no reviews....that simply means that no HW customers have left a review. Which means.....I would avoid it. Your bank statement from the Hotwire sale will say, ALL SALES FINAL.
Hotwire sent me a $25 coupon yesterday to be used before midnight. I used it on an $85 Hot Rate hotel being fairly certain it was a Hampton that I had stayed at before. After tax and fees the Hotwire total was $103. The coupon required a minimum spend of $100. After applying the coupon code TOUCHDOWN the total became $78.
15 years ago. Beware "Pig In A Poke" bookings! I just got burned by Hotwire. I booked a hotel at LAX in order to get rest before an allnight trip. Hotwire car rental is such a scam!!! I booked car online on September 30th and I got HOT RATE for it. When I went to rent a car agency ( Ace ) they told me that there is mile limitation for my reservation ( 150 miles a day ) and that I should cancel reservation because if I go further that 450 miles in 3 days I will pay 25 cents per extra mile.
Hotwire decided to cancel the reservation and refund my original cost (by lying that my credit card was declined) to avoid paying more than $76.83 they got from me. This is just one possibility and a pure guess. Due to this event, all other issues at Hotwire were exposed such as no customer service, not honest. Edited: 8 years ago
Here is the official response from Hotwire on April 26. The extra cost paid to the hotel had been refunded to my credit card plus $25 HotDollars credited to my Hotwire account. I was in Asia for two weeks and decided not to waste time dealing with them again. ===== In response to BBB Complaint ID xxxxxx, Hotwire Itinerary xxxxxx. Dear xxxxx,
Why is it some of hotwire's tax recovery charges & fees are not the same for each hotel ? One hotel in the same city listing might be $48 a night and total fees are $22 for a 3 night stay. Farther down the list I find another hotel in the same area for $55 but then hotwire wants $91 for fees and taxes.
