   The reservation had a free cancellation up to 3 days before the rental. I canceled my reservation less than 48 hours later, but it wasn't easy. Even though I had received an email with my confirmation number, that number could not be found in the system. Three phone calls later, they assured me that the reservation had been canceled.

Last year it was fined US$168 million for sleazy business practices, and a corporate culture like that doesn't go away very easily. I haven't heard of any scandals regarding Alamo, not that I've been looking for any.

   You should look at Alamo's site for what they say about a debit card rental. The site will tell you how much of a hold they will put on your card in terms of dollars. You can call their 800 number as well to get that info. Since Alamo is renting you the car they decide. What help would you like from TA ?

My car was returned on Halloween night of 2019. The car was not "admitted" to the first mechanic until 11/5/19. That was for the undercarriage.
