4 years ago. We just rented a car from Budget & returned to Fiumicino Airport. It seemed that the sign for the floors of the different rental car companies was on a curve partially obscured by foliage. Also, it looks like you're entering a parking garage because you have to take a ticket to enter the facility.
As you turn onto Terminal Dr from Airport Blvd stay on your left hand lane to enter the rental car garage. The garage is clearly marked as the car rental return. The right hand lanes take you to the airport terminals so if you pass the car rental entry you will need to circle around and come back onto Terminal Dr to get to the car rental garage ...

Look out for car rental return on the overhead signs and get in the correct lane. Once in the garage, look for the rental car company sign to return car. Report inappropriate content.

Hertz only allows it on certain class rentals. National allows it on all rentals. And, because you can choose your own car , you CAN get results in a free upgrade if a larger car is available on the aisle.
2. Re: Which Rental Car Companies Are Easiest at Airport. All car rental facilities at LAX are off-site, and you will need to take a shuttle from the terminal to get to one. I would stick with the major firms - Avis, Budget, Enterprise, Hertz, National, Thrifty.
Usually, dropping off a car just takes a matter of minutes. However, it all depends on how often Thrifty runs a shuttle to and from the airport terminal. The ride itself to the terminal should take less than 10 minutes. What can't be predicted is how long you would have to wait for the shuttle.
What car rental company are you using? When I used Hertz (rental return on Harbor Dr. across from the terminals), I usually planned on 30 minutes to drop the car, have it checked in, board the shuttle, and ride to Terminal 2 (about a 10 - 15 minute shuttle ride depending on traffic in front of the terminals).
