There is on-street parking, some of which is pay at a kiosk, some of which still has meters and some in the more residential neighborhoods are free (but hard to find). There are city-owned garages which charge $3/hour with a max of $28 for the day.

Portland old port. This is a great area to walk around in to see the old harbor - as well as the new stuff.
