To experience the whole selection of pies you have to get there early – they start serving pie at 10:30 a.m. and typically run out of most flavors by mid-afternoon. To get to the Rock Creek Lakes Resort, you will need to take US 395 to the Tom’s Place exit (about 14 miles south of Mammoth Lakes and about 25 miles north of Bishop).

They have built new cabins, maintained and upgraded them while maintaining the integrity and spirit of Rock Creek, and provided a great kitchen with fabulous "heavenly" pies. My children were raised coming up every summer until things got too hectic during the high school years.
Julian was named an International Dark Sky Community by the International Dark Sky Association in May 2021. It was the 30th such designation and the second in California. The town is known for its apple pie and its annual Julian Apple Days Festival, which began in 1949.

The owners are personable, and work hard to keep the place going. Fishing is a great, and the small store as anything you may have forgotten. Don't miss a slice of the daily homemade pie, at the "Pie in the Sky." $7 a slice, so a bit steep in price, but it was really, really good. Date of stay: July 2012.
