I had reason to contact them at their 'contact' address to enquire what their policy is regarding carriage of golf clubs in Business Class. In addition to merely sending me a policy quote which really didn't give me a clear answer they say that I should telephone an 0870 number (UK I presume) after booking and prior to travel to check approval !!!

To be honest calling it customer service is a misnomer. It would be more accurate to call it "customer disservice".
